How to stop ISP detecting your downloads
If you cast your mind a few years back, you will remember lots of articles in the newspapers about tapped telephone calls and lots of Royal conversations being disclosed. There are not so many leaks these days, some may put this down to the introduction of the digital phone system. But digitisation on its own will not stop people listening into the call.
You may also remember the good old days of the analogue scanner, when you could quite happily listen into the conversations of your local police. Again, these days, there are few frequencies left that you can actually listen into. The method the police adopted to avoid unwanted people listening in was ENCRYPTION. The system adopted was developed by Marconi, it encrypts with an extremely large amout of keys which is virtually impossible to hack into.
So what about the government being able to nosey into your downloads and get the ISP Internet Service Providers to disconnect you? Well you can use encryption yourself.
If you use Utorrent to download, It already has built in encryption to stop ISP's knowing what you are downloading. To turn it on, go to PREFERENCES, BITTORRENT and set PROTOCOL ENCRYPTION to FORCED. Remove the tick from ALLOW INCOMING LEGACY CONNNECTIONS.
Anything you download through Utorrent will then be through an encrypted connection and your ISP will not know what kind of infromation it is.
